Team Czechia developed their game through the tournament

Saturday’s President’s Pool bronze medal game at Wemasto Arena saw Team USA take on the Team Czechia. With limited recovery time after their previous evening’s match, the American team faced a quick turnaround. The latest game teams had in the tournament USA won 6–3, but it showed team Czechia’s development and force. The game began with the USA taking the lead late in the first period, as Darcy Woods found the net. A misplayed ring by the Czech team led to an own goal, giving the USA a 2–0 advantage heading into the second period.

Team Czechia responded with a goal from Senika Velisek, who scored with a well-placed shot from the top of the circle. Velisek and Veronika Kamasová added another goal during the period, while Brooke Fels scored for the USA. Both goalkeepers—Kayla Benyak (USA) and Kateřina Dvořáková (Czech Republic)—made several solid saves. The teams went into the long break tied at 3–3.

In the third period, Fels scored again to put the USA ahead. However, penalty trouble affected the Americans’ momentum, and Šarlota Tomasco equalized for Czechia on a power play. The fourth period saw the USA regain control. Brooklyn Bomke scored early, followed by Woods’ second goal of the game. Michelle Bettauer added one more for the Czech side, but the USA maintained their lead and closed out the match with an 8–5 win.

With the victory, Team USA moves on to the President’s Pool final against Sweden, scheduled for Sunday at 9:45 AM. See you all at Wemasto Arena!
